When it comes to understanding the Fiji Airways Baggage Policy of the airline you are flying with is essential to avoid any unnecessary surprises or fees. We will delve into the baggage policy of Fiji Airways, providing you with all the information you need to know before your next flight. From cabin baggage allowance to checked baggage rules, we’ve got you covered.

Cabin Baggage Allowance

As part of Fiji Airways ongoing commitment to passenger safety, the cabin baggage policy allowance has been amended to adhere to the Travel Ready Covid-19 safety program. It’s important to note that your personal item should now be included in the total number of pieces allowed, rather than in addition to it. Let’s take a closer look at the specific allowances:

Economy Class

In economy class, passengers are allowed a maximum of 1 piece of cabin baggage weighing up to 7 kg (15 lbs). The total dimensions of the bag, including handles and wheels, should not exceed 118cm (46in). Additionally, passengers are permitted to carry one small personal item, such as a laptop or purse.

Business Class

Passengers traveling in business class enjoy a more generous cabin baggage allowance. They are allowed a maximum of 2 pieces of cabin baggage, each weighing up to 7 kg (15 lbs), or 1 piece weighing up to 14 kg (30 lbs). The total dimensions of each bag, including handles and wheels, should not exceed 126cm (50in). Similar to economy class, passengers are also permitted to carry a small personal item.

Infant Allowance

For infants (aged below 2 years), an accompanying adult is allowed an additional 3 kg (7 lbs) of cabin baggage allowance. This allowance can include items necessary for the infant’s comfort during the flight, such as diapers and baby food.

Cabin Baggage Dimensions

To ensure that your cabin baggage complies with Fiji Airways’ size restrictions, it’s important to be familiar with the allowed dimensions. Let’s break down the dimensions for both economy and business class:

Economy Class

The total dimensions of the cabin bags in economy class should not exceed 118cm (46in). Additionally, the maximum dimensions of each bag, including handles and wheels, should be 55cm X 40cm X 23cm.

Business Class

In business class, the total dimensions of the cabin bags should not exceed 126cm (50in). The maximum dimensions of each bag, including handles and wheels, should be 56cm X 45cm X 25cm.

It’s important to note that if your cabin bag does not comply with the weight and size policy, you may be asked to check it in at the counter and will be charged for any excess baggage.

Additional Items Allowed in the Cabin

In addition to the cabin baggage allowance, Fiji Airways allows passengers to carry certain items on board, free of charge, subject to space availability. These items include:

  • One small personal item, such as a laptop bag or purse
  • A pocket book or purse that is suitable for normal travel dress and not being used as a container for other items
  • An overcoat, wrap, or blanket
  • An umbrella or walking stick (subject to security approval)
  • A small camera and/or a pair of binoculars
  • A reasonable amount of reading material for the flight
  • For passengers traveling with children below the age of two, an additional 3 kg (7 lbs) of cabin baggage allowance is provided, which may include items for use in the cabin, such as diapers and baby food
  • A collapsible stroller is allowed, provided it does not exceed the total linear dimensions of 148cm (Length 100cm + Width 25cm + Depth 23cm). The stroller must be carried by the accompanying adult and must be stowed during the flight

It’s worth noting that certain items, such as crutches, wedding dresses, and duty-free bags, are also permitted in the cabin. However, it’s always a good idea to check with Fiji Airways for any specific restrictions or requirements.

Non-Compliant Cabin Baggage

Fiji Airways strives to accommodate all cabin baggage safely on board. However, in cases where there is limited space or if the cabin bag does not comply with the size and weight limits, it may need to be checked in. In such instances, non-compliant fees will be applied at the boarding gate.

To ensure a smooth check-in experience, it’s important to make sure that your cabin bag fits within the allowed size and weight limits. All compliant cabin baggage must be properly tagged before leaving the check-in counter.

Checked Baggage Allowance

In addition to cabin baggage, Fiji Airways also provides checked baggage allowances for its passengers. The allowance varies depending on the class of travel and the destination. Let’s take a closer look at the different categories:

International Checked Baggage Allowance

For international flights, Fiji Airways offers various checked baggage allowances based on the fare type and class of travel. Here’s a breakdown of the allowances:

LITE (Economy): No checked bag allowed
VALUE (Economy): 1 piece up to 30kg (66lbs)
COMFORT (Economy): 2 pieces up to 30kg (66lbs) each
PLUS (Economy): 2 pieces up to 30kg (66lbs) each
BIZ VALUE (Business): 2 pieces up to 30kg (66lbs) each

It’s important to note that for travel to/from Vancouver, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, the checked baggage allowance may differ. Passengers are advised to check with Fiji Airways for the specific allowances for these destinations.

Infant Passengers

Infants traveling on Fiji Airways flights are allowed one piece of checked baggage weighing up to 10kg (22 lbs), in addition to a stroller.

Important Notes

Here are a few important points to keep in mind regarding Fiji Airways’ baggage policy:

  1. As of December 15, 2022, Fiji Airways has transitioned from a weight-based baggage policy to a piece concept baggage policy. This change applies to tickets issued on or after December 15, 2022, for travel from February 1, 2023.

  4. Pieces weighing more than 30kg (66lbs) will not be accepted as checked baggage and will need to be repacked or sent as freight.
  5. For passengers with connecting flights, baggage allowances will depend on the ticketing carrier and the specific rules of the journey. It’s important to check the baggage policy for each individual carrier involved.
  6. Sports equipment can be included as one of the checked baggage pieces, provided the total weight does not exceed 30kg (66lbs).
  7. Tabua Club members can access their excess baggage entitlements by logging into tabuaclub.com.
  8. Certain items, such as mattresses, woven plastic checkered bags over 7kg, and fragile items, have specific packing requirements or may only be accepted as freight.
